On Saturday, December 5th State archeologist, Dr. Nicholas Bellantoni of the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History & Connecticut Archaeology Center, University of Connecticut visited the site of an 18th or early 19th century foundation in the what would have been the Sixth Division.
The site in Warren’s northeast section is on private property and is unique in that the old foundation has been undisturbed.
The remains are probably that of a substantial homelot of considerable size.
This section of the 1860 map shows the old turnpike. It’s possible that the homestead may not have been occupied at that time.
